The abundance of kitesurfing places in Europe is incredibly large and varies from easy-to-reach places to islands and exotic destinations, enticing travellers from all corners of the world. Right on the edge of Europe, a stone’s throw away from Africa sits beautiful Tarifa. Located in the most southern part of Spain and not too far from Gibraltar Gibraltar, it is deservedly titled the "capital of the winds." Strong winds, immense waves and golden sand beaches make the place perfect for watersports.

Tarifa is a destination not only for adrenaline junkies; this beautiful town has it all: whale-watching, a hilltop castle for romantic sunsets and a charming old town, the brightest flora and fauna, and a hippyish and bohemian ambience. Enrich your stay in Tarifa by staying in one of the cosy, inviting and full of fun camping villages providing well-equipped accommodation. The campsites are suitable for families and those looking for a romantic couple's getaway, and they welcome their guests with various types of daytime and evening entertainment. Create your own tropical paradise!

Discover the beauty of Tarifa

Once all the water fun is done, take your time to cruise the historic town centre and explore the narrow pebbled streets meandering around the whitewashed houses and leading to the picture-perfect Castillo de Guzmán el Bueno. The castle was built in the 10th century to defend against Christian invaders. Wander around the maze of the town, making sure you do not miss the Plaza de Santa Maria and Castillo de Santa Catalina, less known than the Guzmán castle but carrying no less historical importance.

Your day here might start with scenic hiking or a cycling trip around the numerous picture-perfect trails leading to the stunning beaches of Playa de Los Lances and Playa de Valdevaqueros. Those looking for a quick bite or a large lunch plate will have no problem finding a place to pamper their taste buds with the most fabulous local gastronomic delicacies. The area is dotted with cosy family-owned restaurants in the old town. Try the most refreshing gazpacho, dig into their fish and seafood dishes, and spot the freshest paella at one of the local beach bars. The muggy climate, African heat and local cultural heritage have a strong Moroccan flavour, and sometimes you have to remind yourself that you are actually wandering in the streets of Spain.
